For everyone involved in human rights cases and child trials, the publication of the Grand Chamber's decision in the Stand Lobben case is of great importance.  The decision will be published on 10 September at 10 am (Central European Time)

Background

what is the Lobben case about.

In 2008, Truede Lobben is pregnant.  She is at that time single and she was not feeling well psychologically for various reasons.  She is unsure if she wants the baby and she moves into a family center to get support and help during the difficult times of her life.  However, she does not like what is going on at the family center and she is getting more and more sure that she wants the child so she says she does not want to be at the center anymore, but now they will not lead her leave with here unborn baby.  The baby is born (a boy) and it goes well between mother and child, but after three weeks the authorities come and forcibly remove the child and ask the mother to leave the family center immediately.  Mother and child are allowed to see each other 8 times in a year and this is with the presence of a foster mother and a care worker.
